Unless it is practiced on your own achieving Excellency is difficult.<\/p>\n<p>Here demonstrating steps written by attendee of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.learnmsbitutorials.net\/training.php\" target=\"_blank\">MSBI training in Mumbai<\/a> who himself has done the practical and written a write-up out of it.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 1:<\/strong> Select a table and modify the table with some columns. Here we are modifying the Sales person table and adding the Sales Person Boss Name column in it which will be better to understand hierarchical dimensions data.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1283\" src=\"http:\/\/stepbystepschools.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/Dim1.jpg\" alt=\"dim1\" width=\"471\" height=\"203\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.stepbystepschools.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/Dim1.jpg 471w, https:\/\/www.stepbystepschools.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/Dim1-300x129.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 471px) 100vw, 471px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 2:<\/strong> Now make the Sales Person Boss Id as self-referencing primary key.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1285\" src=\"http:\/\/stepbystepschools.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/Dim2.jpg\" alt=\"dim2\" width=\"342\" height=\"139\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.stepbystepschools.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/Dim2.jpg 342w, https:\/\/www.stepbystepschools.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/Dim2-300x122.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 342px) 100vw, 342px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>To do that we have to go to the diagram pane option and give the self-referencing primary key and generate an SQL query.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1286\" src=\"http:\/\/stepbystepschools.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/Dim3.jpg\" alt=\"dim3\" width=\"623\" height=\"256\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.stepbystepschools.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/Dim3.jpg 623w, https:\/\/www.stepbystepschools.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/Dim3-300x123.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 623px) 100vw, 623px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 3:<\/strong> After doing this we have to now make changes in our SSAS project. Now as we have changed our database table due to that our old Dimension tables will not work and we have to create new Dimension tables.<\/p>\n<p><b>If some changes happen in dimension or cube, we have to make changes in that particular dimension or the cube. Deleting the whole cube &amp; dimension and recreating is a very bad idea and not advised in production.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>So first we will delete the Sales person table in our data source view diagram and then we will generate a query based table.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1287\" src=\"http:\/\/stepbystepschools.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/Dim4.jpg\" alt=\"dim4\" width=\"446\" height=\"214\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.stepbystepschools.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/Dim4.jpg 446w, https:\/\/www.stepbystepschools.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/Dim4-300x144.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 446px) 100vw, 446px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1288\" src=\"http:\/\/stepbystepschools.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/Dim5.jpg\" alt=\"dim5\" width=\"281\" height=\"259\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Now copy the query which we have generated in our SQL server and paste it here and create the query based table.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1290 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/stepbystepschools.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/Dim6.jpg\" alt=\"dim6\" width=\"557\" height=\"503\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.stepbystepschools.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/Dim6.jpg 557w, https:\/\/www.stepbystepschools.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/Dim6-300x271.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 557px) 100vw, 557px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 4:<\/strong> After creating the query based table set the logical primary key to the Sales person id and define the relationship.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 5:<\/strong> After this is done now delete only the Sales Person Dimension and create a new dimension. Instead modify or recreate the individual dimension or cube that is advised.<\/p>\n<p>MSBI is more of dealing with designer rather than doing coding in code behind unlike it is done under Visual Studio.
